Luna shot Arethar and angry look as his ignorance took over once more. “No one cared did they?” she snapped rising to her feet. “No one threw themselves at your feet? Or pushed against one another to take your hand and thank you? Are you really so stupid Arethar?” She was relieved to hear that Anira at least had some sense and she relaxed a little, knowing she would at least have some help in controlling the headstrong fool that Arethar was.
“Anira is right Arethar; if you go marching into Trihali you will be killed. Reports of you and your stunt at the village would have reached the Senate’s ears by now. Until you have allies strong enough to take the city you will steer clear of it. Understand?”
She accepted the sword from Arethar, holding it in her hands for a moment resisting the urge to draw the blade from its sheath and nodded slowly. “Good.” She whistled, calling her horse to her and proceeded to strap the sword to the saddle before turning to accept the bracelet from Anira. This at least brought a smile to her face as she turned it over in her hands “It is beautiful.” The inscription inside made her smile flicker and a pang of loneliness struck her heart again.
Taking a deep breath she nodded again and buried it deep in one of her saddle bags before unhooking the bridle and fitting it to the horse once more. She turned to both of them. “I promise you both, I will bring him to you.” she bowed her head before giving Arethar a look a mother might give a misbehaving child. “No more heroics. Stay out of the city and stay with Anira. I will know if you don’t.” She looked to Anira and gave her a small smile. “I will be a few days, and then I will ride east. From what I have learned over the past few days, the Senate’s hold is not so strong there. I will meet you by the Lake Syahi.”
She mounted her horse with a small grunt of pain, she rubbed her wound. “Look after him Anira; I feel he needs it more than you do.” She gave Arethar a small reassuring smile. “Stay out of trouble.” and with that she turned the horse away and rode into the darkness and for Lys. There she would gather some supplies, redress her wound and then she and Leon would head for the city.
