Meet me at the Lone Lake in two days. That was what Arethar had asked of her, an easy task had she not been hindered by the wound in her leg. Once Eddard had stitched it and forced her to lie still for a day she had shifted and torn it open again. So, after cursing her stupidity, he stitched it again and told her she would have to travel on horseback instead. The village gave her a horse for helping protect them and she rode the beast for every ounce of energy it had.
Dusk was falling by the time she reached the lake and the horse flanks were steaming and it was foaming at the mouth. She clicked her tongue in irritation as she removed its bridle and allowed it to drinks its fill from the water and graze near her. Her leg ached and she perched on a rock extending it out in front of her, taking in her surroundings. The lake was hidden by high rocks and a dense copse of pine trees, she might have called it peaceful were in not for the fact that there was a hint of danger in the air around her.
Maybe it was because she was expecting a dragon to drop in on her at any moment that made her so edgy. Unable to bear sitting still and waiting she gathered enough firewood the last the night and set herself to work getting it alight as Leon had shown her. Her dense coat as a wolf had rid her of the need for fire long ago but Eddard’s instructions of not shifting for a week were clear. Once the fire was blazing, she could do nothing but wait for Arethar to show. As the hours drew past she began to worry that perhaps something had happened to him, but instantly brushed it aside. Her Goddess would have told her if that was the case.
Instead she stared aimlessly into the flames, watching as they danced. Before looking up at the moon and closing her eyes to pray.
Suddenly she was eight again, training with her mother. Today was the she was learning how to throw an axe. Her mother was beautiful, it was said every man in the clan had fought for her love but, her father’s wit and charm had one her over. Bards would often sing to her and tell her that her beauty outshone that of any Queen or Lady in the east they had every laid eyes on. “Let it fly Luna. Are you listening Luna?” Luna blinked, and raised her axe as the flames rose up to engulf her mother, but instead of burning her they changed her into the face of a girl with silver hair and then into a young boy that looked almost identical to Arethar. “He already has Anira, Luna. You must find his brother, Astian. He goes by the name Sebastian Waine and he is in Trihali.” She balked at the words her Goddess conveyed to her through her mother’s voice; she was not good with crowds. “You fear is no longer important Luna, see beyond it. You must find him and you must take something he will recognise to gain his trust. Bring him to Arethar.”
She laid on her back staring up at the stars, sweat pouring from every pore and trembling with what she could only describe as exhaustion. Cursing softly she sat up as the sensation she was being watched washed over her. She closed her hand over her dagger and waited, hoping that it was Arethar.

"Aaaaaaah!"
He was falling down, the image of the huge person he was fighting drifting away from his line of sight, only to be swapped with images of rocks that he kept crashing into as he fell from the top.
"Aaaah!"
That was it. He was going to die as a fourteen year old boy in the barafs. He hadn't even taken his oath yet. He was never going to be an elite.
"OUCH!"
He bumped his head in a rock, and the sound of cracking was definitely coming from his head. The pain, he wanted to throw up, but he passed out.
"Wake up!"
"Not now mother." he said to the deep female voice inside his head that would definitely make his head erupt.
"NOT YOUR MOTHER!"
"Ten more minutes Anira."
"WHO THE FUCK IS ANIRA?"
He opened his eyes, trying to distinguish where he was, but all he could see was two very bright silver eyes. Great, he was dead, this was definitely the one true god in the shape of two silver suns. Great.
And then his vision stopped being blurry. A baby dragon. On top of him.
"AAAAAAH!"
He tried to shake the dragon, only to make it fall right next to him. "What... How... Who... Dragon."
"The name's Lyanna. And you were supposed to touch the egg, not bust it open with your skull."
He touched his head, the warmth coming from the blood inmistakeable. "So... you're my dragon?"
"Surprised? Have to say, I expected more."
He got up, and looked down. He completely backed back to the rocks. This was very high. Looking up, he could see the training ground of the elites, quite high above him as well.
"Fuck."
The dragon snorted. "Aren't you a real dragon rider. Afraid of heights."
"NOT AFRAID." Arethar retorted, and looked up again. "They are not going to look for us. I have to climb."
"WE have to climb."
He opened his eyes as the wind hit him hard on the face. There was no better way to wake up, especially as the sound of Lyanna's wings while flying woke him up again. "How long was I out?"
"Almost two days. You gave me quite a fright back there."
Arethar smirked as he grabbed the reigns. "I think those bandits were even more frightened."
"Definitely." she said, and Arethar heard her laughter in his head, as he laughed as well. "Lyanna, I was dreaming about the day-"
"I know."
"We had quite a rocky start."
She laughed and raised her head just a little bit for his hands to pet it, without causing any problems with her navigation. "Listen, I will try and behave better to your family if you promise me that they will respect me."
"Lyanna, my love, I think that respect needs to be earned first. Besides, does my love count for nothing?"
"Everything, you jerk."
He smiled as they landed softly on the ground, after spotting the fire. "Send the message to Authion." he said, as the message was relayed inside his head.
"We are here. Find us. Find us. We are here."
He climbed off from her back and touched her wings for a second, petting her to show her his affection, and then turned to Luna. "Hello." he said in Dheynorian, his smile still apparent.
"What you did for the people back there was remarkable. Thank you."

Luna blinked and stared as Lyanna landed nearby and Arethar slid off, she relaxed her grasp on her dagger and relaxed, gently massaging her wound as the throbbing had returned after her vision. She gave a sad smile as a wave of sorrow threatened to overcome her. Handling the aftermath had never been her greatest strength. If she could shift, she would have lost herself in the woods for a few hours and cried her fury at the moon, but she could not shift.
She looked away from Arethar blinking back tears. “Do not thank me.” She snapped. ”I have enough difficulty swallowing the villager’s thanks, without you adding to it. My ability to kill anything in my path is not one to be celebrated.” She closed her eyes and took several deep breaths to calm her fraying nerves and pointed to the ground next to her indicating Arethar should sit with her.
Opening them she could not stop the few tears that escaped her. “Life was given to us by the Gods, whether we view them as one or many, it is not our right to take it away, but theirs. I hate fighting, I hate war and I hate watching the life slip from another’s eyes at my hand. But, its everything I know and everything I am. Never thank me for taking life Arethar.”
Wiping away her tears she let out a long breath and focused herself before looking Arethar in the eye. “How is your sister? Must have been quite a reunion?”

He watched as Luna found a way to distort his words. It seemed as if she had a way of making him angry, which reminded him of Lyanna all too much. He could live with one Lyanna by his side, he didn't need another one. He raised his eyebrow as she spoke, trying not to cut her off, even though he wanted to just stop her right there.
Once she had finished, he sighed and raised his hands in defense. "That is not what I meant. There is nothing honorable in taking life, and I didn't thank you for that." he said, and shook his head. "I thanked you for putting your life in danger in order to save the lives of the people that you don't even know, in a land that you haven't lived before. You protected those people even though it was my duty from birth, that is the reason I have thanked you."
He shook his head again and made his way closer to the fire. "I will try and make you understand this oath in Dheynorian as much as I can." he said, as he recited "I, Arethar, swear by the one true God to be faithful to the country of Dheynor, to protect the country from all kinds of danger, to put the lives of the people before my own and follow the commands of my superiors. I take this obligation with all my heart and mind. My sword is my family, my shield is the people who rely on me, my power lies in my faith. I will be the one that faces Dheynor¢s enemies with a ready sword, I will be the one to save the people from all harm, and let history remember my name. I am Arethar, born anew as a Dheynorian Elite."
He looked at the fire and sighed. "That was my oath, the oath of the elite soldiers of Dheynor. We value the people's lives above our own, we take lives in order to protect them, for they are our real strength and power." he said, and looked at the flames. "But that is all gone now. Burned by the senate as a fleeting dream." he added, his voice full of sorrow and regret, as his eyes widened when she mentioned his sister.
The visions.
"Not your business." he said, and turned to Lyanna. "Find us some food." The dragon laughed and flew away, as Arethar turned to look at Luna. And her patched wound. A small flame made its way to his fingertips. "Show me your wound. I will cleanse it with fire so that it won't get infected."
He took a deep breath. "It will hurt like a bitch for a couple of minutes but you will be as good as new afterwards."

Arethar’s words soothed her turmoil a little and she felt guilty for snapping at him. “Forgive me.” she said softly “I have never been good after a battle.” He was right though, she had placed their life before her own, not because of an oath but because slaughter of innocents was not something she could stomach. There was also that nagging feeling that perhaps she had drawn the bandits there by saving Eddard and his son. But Arethar did not know that, nor did he need to know that.
She laughed when she brushed her question aside. “Everything about your family is my business Arethar, whether you want it to be or not. You are the reason I am here, the reason I was drawn from my solitude and the sooner you realise that the better.” she cast her eyes to the starlit sky “No matter, I will meet her soon enough.”
She scrambled away from him when the fire leapt to his hand and crouched out of his reach with her dagger in hand like an animal preparing for an attack, ready to prevent any attempt he might make for that fire to touch her. “No.” the word came out as a fearful cry and she shook her head unable to keep the fear from her eyes and it flicked from the fire in his hand to his face. “Eddard sealed the wound well enough and time will heal it. Not fire. Never fire. I hate fire.”
When she was certain Arethar had gotten the message that fire was not an option she sheathed her dagger but she still kept her distance, eyeing him suspiciously as if she expected him to ignore her and burn her anyway. In order to distract both of them she forced herself to speak calmly “Astian is alive.”

He shook his head and gave a faint smile to Luna. "Understandable." he said, and sighed. "I've never been in a real battle before that, to be honest." he confessed, and turned to look at the fire, the light coming from them giving his eyes a strange gleam. "Then again, my whole life has been an ongoing battle for survival. I had never killed a man before, but I guess the Elites prepared me enough so that I wouldn't feel anything but the lives of the people in danger." he added, still not looking at Luna.
He shook his head and cursed in Sianhese. "My family members have been dealing with their lives long before you arrived, and they will deal with them long after you are gone." he said, and looked at her. "After all, you're here because of your goddess, not because you care for us. You've already told me you would leave me when she tells you to."
For some reason, the fact that she was going to leave him at a certain point in the future was troubling him enough to not even allow Lyanna's thoughts reach that part of his mind. "I need people who will fight next to me for the rest of their lives and mine. Not someone who will bail at me with any chance she gets." he said, and moved closer to heal her wound.
Only, she didn't want him to. With one swift movement of his fingers, the flame was gone, and he retorted "Fine, die out of infection, I don't care." The problem was that he did care, though, and even though he had dissolved the tiny flame, a small part of him hoped she would listen and let him heal her as much as he could.
He turned swiftly when she mentioned the fact that Astian was alive, his next words coming out so fast that he had trouble thinking before speaking. "WHERE? HOW? Where is he!? Have you seen him? SPEAK!" He didn't even realise that he hadn't even given her a chance to speak after his so many questions.
Lyanna landed nearby, dropping a dead elk to the ground. "That's all I could find for you. Should do for a couple of days."
"Thank you, Lyanna, I will prepare dinner in a second."

Cautiously Luna edged back to sit next to Aranion again, ignoring his comment about dying from unfection. She had had worse wounds than this and she had recovered without infection. So long as she kept the wound clean she did not need fire the cleanse it. Fire did only two things in her mind: provide heat, and kill.
She was at least given a moment to collect herself after his bombardment of questions about his brother. Perhaps she should have waited until Anira was with them. She was coming, and Luna knew it. She didn’t need to be told that she could almost sense it in her bones. She eyed the elk hungrily before deciding she would need to give Arethar more information to quiet his mind.
“He is safe and alive, Arethar. For now that is all you need to know. If I give you any more information you will only put yourself in danger trying to get to him, and that is something I can’t allow to happen. I will explain more when Anira gets here; I need you both to help me bring him to you.”
She fell silent, her eyes moving to the sky once more to watch the stars glittering, wishing she could shift and cry to the moon. In her silence she digested his words about leaving him. She had been quick to make it clear she would and her loyalty lied with her Goddess, but the more time she had spent out of the woods, the more she had begun to understand the importance of bringing the empire back. “I will not leave you Arethar.” she said her voice soft. “I didn’t know it on the mountains, but I know it now. My life is bound to yours, from now until the end of time. Ntohing will change that.”

She would never understand, and that was painfully clear to Arethar once she denied him more information about Astian's whereabouts. He shook his head, cursed in Sianhese, and started to walk in a circle out of fury and nervousness. "You don't understand." he said, as he kept pacing around. "You don't understand how it feels like. I promised to take care of them, and for ten years I didn't know if they were alive or not."
He sighed. "Ten years filled with cowardice as I flew to seclusion in the Barafs. Ten years filled with guilt. Ten years of knowing that you broke your promise to your own family only to save your own skin." he said. He was mostly talking to himself at that moment, he wasn't even sure if Luna was there. He didn't care. "My mother told me to restore back the Empire, but I couldn't even restore my own family. I couldn't even protect her, or my father. How am I supposed to win back my kingdom, how am I supposed to rule when I can't even protect the ones I love?"
He cursed again. "Funny little world, isn't it?"
He made his way to Lyanna, trying to calm himself, as he drew a small worn out dagger and knelt before the dead elk. He sighed and started to speak in Sianhese. "Ancestors, I ask for your guidance. Light God watch over my family with a ready sword. Let me be that sword. Whisper to them that I am coming to save them, that they need not be afraid. Ancestors I honor you. Bless this dinner, Light God, for it is in your Light that I feast tonight."
He sighed again, took a second, and plunged the dagger inside the elk's stomach. With careful movements, he started to remove the skin of the animal, in order to eat. Then, Luna's words came to his ears. He laughed, silently and genuinely. "That is what a Sianhese woman is supposed to say to her husband during the wedding ceremony." he said, and laughed again. After removing the skin from the elk, he took a seat on the ground and exhaled in relief. Pressing the blunt edge of the dagger against his nose, he tried to rid himself of the itching because of all the blood.
"My turn now?" Lyanna said, as she used her breath on the now skinned elk to burn it enough so that it could be eaten. Arethar cut a small part of the elk with his dagger and started to eat. It wasn't that satisfying, but it would have to do. "You're welcome to join, Luna, I can't eat an elk by myself." he said, and started to eat again.
"Are you hungry?"
"I've eaten two of them already, I think I'll be fine, Arethar." she said, her tail making its way to his hair and messing with it.
"Someone's awfully cheerful tonight."
"Why wouldn't I be? We fought, we won, we deserve a break. After all, can't I so how proud I am of my rider?"
"Now, that's a first."
"Eat, Sir I-am-not-afraid-of-heights."
"Much better."

Anira sighed out loud, laying in her cot in her cavern. It's been two days since she was reunited with her brother and she hasn't heard from him yet. Or his Dragon. They were supposed to go look for Astian and reclaim their home and he went off to survey the area for enemies. "Do not worry, Anira. I'm sure Arethar is fine. He is an Elite." Authion comforted his rider, sticking his head into the cave and nudged his noses on her arm. A weak smile curved her plump lips as she turned and stroked his scales. "We are here. Find us. Find us. We are here." Authion's head jerked to the right when Lyanna's voice rang out in his head. He turned to Anira and nudged her head. "They are at the Lake, Princess. Time to go." He told her, watching as she jumped up and gathered the last two bags of supplies before getting on her Dragon's back when he fully got out of the Cavern. Looking at the opening on it one last time, Anira gazed down at the ring on her finger knowing where her true home was. "Fly." And into the evening sky they went in the direction of the Lone Lake. From her cave to the lake, it took about thirty minutes. "Lyanna, we are almost there. Is that Elk, I smell?" "Authion, don't be greedy." She told her friend with a slight giggle, seeing the Silver Dragon on the ground by the Lone Lake. And of course, she saw her Brother sitting next to a... Woman? Quirking a brow as her purple beast landed, Anira slid off to land on her feet. Covering her confusion with a smile, she walked over to her brother and saw Lyanna messing with his hair like she would sometimes when they were younger. It made her feel a small pang on jealousy in her heart towards the She Dragon. "Took you long enough, Brother.."[/ul]

Luna watched Arethar as he worked with Lyanna to skin and cook the elk, unsure what to make of his comment. She was not a Sianehese woman and she certainly wasn’t going to marry him. The more she watched Arethar the more she realised that he was not alone. He had never been alone, he had Lyanna, and he would always have Lyanna. She had thought they were similar on the mountain, when she discovered they had both had to leave their homes, but only she had been truly alone.
Accepting his invitation to join, she moved forward, cutting away a slice with her dagger and moving back to her seat to chew it slowly, totally lost in her lonely thoughts. The sound of the leathery wings of a dragon in the night air stopped her thoughts short and she looked up and Anira and her dragon descended. She was more beautiful than in Luna’s dreams and she couldn’t help but smile at this fact. What a pretty family the empire had.
Eating the last slither of elk she had, she sucked the juices off her fingers and turned her eyes to the sky once more, mentally reaching out to the moon, thanking her for the meal and asking for more information, but no visions came. The moon had given her all she had needed. Luna would have to trust her instinct and figured the rest out herself. Opening her eyes she watched the family she was to protect.

Arethar smiled when Luna made her way to him, as he moved one seat away to her enough space to enjoy her meal, but it seemed that she had made her way back to her own spot as soon as she had cut a part. "You're welcome." he said, as he scratched his beard, and cut another small slice with his dagger.
"They are here."
Arethar raised his head to look at the purple dragon landing and his sister jumping from his back, and got to his feet, nodding in respect to the dragon and smiling at his sister. "I got distracted." he said in Sianhese, and smirked.
"A group of bandits attacked a village two days south from here, couldn't leave them to die." he said, as Lyanna made her way to Authion and bowed her head. Arethar raised an eyebrow and looked, apparently interested.
"Forgive me. I was dealing with other things while we met. My name is Lyanna. You can find a herd of elk not far from here, this one is for the riders and the she-wolf."
Arethar looked at Anira and tilted his head for a second to point at Luna. "This is Luna. She is from the West. She helped with the bandits and the village, and she claims that her Goddess gives her visions of us and that she is meant to help us." he said in Sianhese. "Needless to say, she is of Dranken religion and she speaks Dheynorian."
His next words were in Dheynorian. "I think she's a friend. I also think that her visions are true." he took a deep breath and sighed. "She said that Astian is alive, but she won't give me any more information for fear that I simply fly there and get myself killed."
He smirked. "She has a point." He pointed at the cooked elk and smiled. "You're welcome to join us, but I am afraid it won't be enough for all of us." he said and pointed at Authion and Lyanna with a smirk. "Lyanna can accompany him in his hunt and show him the way."

She mused with a smile feeling proud that he stepped in and not look away. Then again Father would have risen from the grave and haunted her brother if he just ignored the situation. Noticing Lyanna moved towards Authion and bow her head made the Princess's brow raise. Even her Dragon tilted his head before hearing the She Dragon speak. "You are forgiven, Lyanna. I am Authion and can the She Wolf be trusted? I never actually encountered a Shifter." He asked, wanting to know before going off to hunt an Elk leaving his rider there. Letting the Dragons talk amongst themselves, Anira paid more attention to when her brother introduced her to the other woman who was named Luna. And that her Goddess sent her visions of them, telling her to help them. "At least Lyanna and I won't be the only women on this journey. It's a pleasure to meet you, Luna. I am Anira." She spoke with a welcoming smile as always. Even though it was slightly hard for her to get back into being her old self again. After ten years of thinking her brothers dead too. "She said that Astian is alive, but she won't give me any more information for fear that I simply fly there and get myself killed. She has a point." He had switched to Dheynorian. "Indeed, she is. Luckily, I am not as stubborn as you." She told Arethar with a playful smirk before turning to Luna again. "Any woman that can put up with my brother without wanting to kill him, is a woman worth knowing." Then hearing her brother say that she was welcome to join them but there wasn't going to be enough for Lyanna and Authion, so he suggested that his Dragon would accompany hers in hunting Elks for themselves. Seeing the toothy smile on Authion, Anira laughed softly. "You can go but no funny business." "Funny business? Me? Who do you think I am, Princess." He joked before looking at Lyanna and motioning with his head for her to lead the way.[/ul]

Luna bowed her head in respect and smiled back at Anira. “I know who you are Princess.” she replied “It is good to finally meet you.” Two heirs down, one to go then she could focus on helping Arethar get back his throne. She smirked at Anira’s comments “Lucky for me, I’ve only had to spend a few hours with him each time we have met.”
That was going to change though. Once Astian was with them, she would not be able to leave Arethar’s side. Something she was not looking forward to, she began wondering why her Goddess hadn’t given her the task of protecting someone a little less...arrogant, and perhaps more likeable in general. It would have been nice too, for them to not be a dragon rider.
She rose from her seat and cut away more elk and waited for the two of them to join her. Chewing slowly on a piece of elk she tried to work out how to place her next words without giving Arethar too much information and having him trying to do this himself. “Astian is somewhere in the north, I intend to go to him and bring him to you both, but he will not know me. I need something from you both, something he will recognise and that he knows can’t be forged.”
There was so much more to her mission than this. Firstly, she had to do it with Leon at her side now Eddard had named her his guardian. Secondly, she had to get into Trihali and the she had to find Astian and work out how to meet him in person without drawing attention to either of them. All this considered it was not going to be an easy task so the more she got from his siblings, the better.

Arethar rolled his eyes at the two women. He already knew that they were going to be unbearable to be with from now. Two seconds in, and they had already formed an alliance against him. All he needed now was Lyanna to turn back into her normal unbearable self, and then he would be facing an unbeatable alliance, one that would drive him to madness and death in a matter of seconds, no doubt.
Arethar sat on the other side of the elk and took another bite, as Luna started to speak and give information about Astian. So, Astian was somewhere in the North, apparently dangerous because she knew he was going to get himself killed. Arethar had to figure this out quickly. Astian was his brother, and no matter what Luna believed, he was going to be the one that would find him. Which place was the most dangerous in the North?
It suddenly dawned on him. Trihali.
"He's in Trihali." he stated, not looking at the two of them but the elk in front of him. "Can't be a village. We were at a village two days ago and no one cared. The most dangerous place is Trihali, where the Senators are."
He made his way to Lyanna and took the Lightbringer from her saddle. He grabbed it with both hands and presented it to Luna. "This is Lightbringer, the twin blade to my sword, Oathkeeper. The Imperial family kept those items together. First it was the Emperor with Oathkeeper, Marei with the ring (he pointed at Anira at that point) and Eythil with Lightbringer." he said, and left the sword next to him as he sat down. "The blade is unique, it can't be forged. Astian will realise it once he sees the blade."
He shook his head. Unless I find him first. He looked at Lyanna who was talking to Authion. "Let's see what you can do, Authion. Try and keep up." She spread her wings and lept to the night sky.
"Don't fly too fast."
"I know."

Anira laughed lightly when she heard Luna speak. "Trust me, you will see how daft like a Dwarf he is." Once again, another quote from her Father. She will always remember the day when she first heard him call Arethar that. Even though it hurt her older brothers feelings, it made her laugh for hours. Because it was true. Especially since he's hard headed and won't listen to reason. “Astian is somewhere in the north, I intend to go to him and bring him to you both, but he will not know me. I need something from you both, something he will recognise and that he knows can’t be forged.”And of course, Arethar jumped stupid and said that he had to be in Trihali. "Arethar, we don't know that for sure. If we go to Trihali, we'll be killed on sight by orders of the Senate before we even get to Astian." Anira's normally soft voice took a stern tone when the Senate was brought into their conversation. She wasn't the joyful little Princess any more. She now knows the terrors of the world and was forced to be a warrior. "I said it's best that we let Luna go with something to show him that we are still alive. Trihali is like a Dryad's smile now." She spoke from experience. When she was sixteen, she took a little detour into the city in disguise to see how it was since her family was killed. It brings tears to her eyes to think about it. On the subject of having something for Astian to know that he wasn't alone anymore, the eldest mentioned Lightbringer. The brother sword to Oathkeeper when the Warrior Princess came up with something better. "I have something just as good." She stated running over to her bags that Authion had sat on the ground when they landed and was rummaging through one and pulled out a golden cuff bracelet with her favorite stone on it. Emerald. "Astian gave me this for my birthday, the one you missed(glares at arethar). On the inside of the cuff, he had engraved 'To Nira from Tian'." Tian was her nickname for him while Nira was one that both her brothers would call her. "I think I can." Authion said to Lyanna with slightly cockiness in his voice before flying away with her. "Taking the sword and cuff will be best."[/ul]
